I’m addicted to Coke. That doesn’t sound good. I’m addicted to Coca-Cola. I also write a coffee blog, so yes, coffee is by far my worst addiction.
On January 25, 2021, the Coca-Cola company released the much anticipated Coke with a splash of coffee in a can. Can you say impulse buy? Yea. That happened! The single two most beverages I drink during a day. Coffee in the morning, Coke at night. What else do you need in life?
Quick Comparison
Before trying, I decided to pour the Coke with Coffee into a glass to compare the color to a traditional Coke. Traditional Coke on the left, the new Coke with Coffee on the right. Expecting the Coke with Coffee to resemble sludge, I was surprised that it mimicked traditional Coke.
A Surprising Taste!
The taste was much better than expected! The coffee flavor is powerful at the beginning leaving you wondering if you are even drinking a Coke. After a few seconds, the traditional Coke flavor kicks in, how you would expect and with some authority!
For this Coke with Coffee review, we sampled the Vanilla variety. The taste of vanilla was instantly crushed by the sweetness and sugar. If you were hoping for the taste of a traditional Vanilla Coke, this falls short.
Coke with Coffee Packed with Energy
Coke with Coffee has nearly double the caffeine of a traditional can of Coke. The caffeine content is below:
Traditional Coke: 2.85 mg per ounce
Coke with Coffee: 5.75 mg per ounce
My Coke with Coffee Review
After finishing the entire can, I felt energized. The after-taste definitely reminded me of Diet Coke, but not quite as bitter. It seems odd, but people do actually do mix cola and coffee quite frequently. You can find numerous cola with coffee recipes on the internet, and the reviews are mostly positive, but I would agree this is an acquired taste. Coke with Coffee is the perfect afternoon pick-me-up if you are looking to power through your afternoon.
